What’s the job?

This position is located at our unionized wallboard plant in Calgary operates 24/7.

The Production Supervisor works a 12hr continental shift on A 2-2-3 work schedule which requires employees to work 12-hour shifts in a 28-day rotating shift cycle. Four teams work 2 days in a row, get 2 days off, then work another 3 days. Typically, the teams will work opposite schedules throughout the 28-day cycle – rotating from days to nights.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for creating a culture of engagement within and between the plant teams to directly impact and consistently meet plant objectives and deliverables. This position is also accountable for ensuring that production teams work collaboratively in the decision-making processes and that the decisions are in alignment with plant goals and objectives, World Class Manufacturing (WCM) standards, Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI), safety requirements and current Human Resources (HR) guidelines. Finally, the Production Supervisor is responsible for all activities at the site and acts as the primary point of contact in off-hours and on weekends in the absence of plant management.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Shift performance reporting as required
  • Communicating with other Production Supervisors to at shift changeovers.
  • Accurate and timely recording of production data through IN4.0RM, PCS and SAP.
  • Coaches and mentor operators by influencing behaviors to meet assigned objectives to improve plant performance.
  • Manages the performance of operators to achieve targets across EHS, Quality, Production and WCM Progress.
  • Coordinates production operators’ participation in WCM / Lean projects as part of daily work expectations. Leads AM projects and Kaizen events.
  • Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels.
  • Through coordination with other departments, leads production of drywall in a manner such that shipments meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure product is to specification and meets identified quality standards.

  • 3-5 years of manufacturing, supervisory experience.
  • Some post-secondary education preferred

Responsibilities:

Management

  • Ensure equipment standards and specifications are developed and available when purchasing or manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide leadership and support to detail and design team members.

  • Develop and maintain product and equipment drawings.

  • Improve production standards through time studies and other standard data development methods.
  • Empower staff to adopt and incorporate quality methods into their work.

Finance

  • Preparation and adherence to annual and as-required budgets and operating plans in accordance with overall company budgets and operating plan preparation cycles.
  • Provide business/cost analysis as required by senior management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience working in a mechanical drafting role.
  • Mechanical Technician or Technologist diploma from an accredited college is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D drafting is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor is required.
  • Superior communication skills to develop effective working relationships with peers to maximize results across the organization.
  • Possess the ability to handle multiple priorities and a wide variety of tasks to meet deadlines, all with a sense of urgency.
  • Sound knowledge of OH&SA regulations.
  • Quick learner, organized, and a team player with initiative and capable of meeting deadlines.

  • Charger des bobines d'acier et de papier sur des dérouleurs à l'aide d'une grue.
  • Serrez le dérouleur et coupez les sangles sur le serpentin.
  • Guider l'acier dans les zones de traitement (rouleaux) à l'aide de commandes de jogging.
  • Activez la machine à l'aide du panneau de commande en sélectionnant le type de commande. Éliminez tout blocage.
  • Installez ou ajustez les rouleaux et effectuez des inspections de la qualité pour vérifier la conformité du produit.
  • Rassemblez les produits, attachez-les en paquets, placez-les dans le wagon et appliquez l'identification du produit.
  • Préparer tous les rapports de production et de sécurité requis et les transmettre au superviseur.
  • Effectuer tout autre travail assigné par le superviseur, le chef d'équipe ou le directeur d'usine.
  • S'assurer que les collègues et les aides travaillent en toute sécurité et signaler toutes les pratiques dangereuses.
  • Respectez toutes les règles de santé et de sécurité, les pratiques de sécurité et les exigences établies par Bailey.

 

Qualifications et exigences

  • Connaissance pratique des outils à main tels que les cisailles à étain, les rubans à mesurer, les pieds à coulisse, etc.
  • Capable d'utiliser un chariot élévateur et un pont roulant de préférence.
  • Les qualités personnelles comprennent l'éthique, l'ouverture d'esprit, l'observation et la ténacité.

Warehouse Shipper

Pay: $19.50 - $20.69/hr paid weekly

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for all warehouse stock keeping in the warehouse.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

The incumbent must load, pull, crate and stock material as required, working within groups or individually as required.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain safety standards within the policy guidelines in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Must keep warehouse areas neat and organized at all times.
  • Pull material from warehouse by using finished goods picking list accurately; reading description, color, part number and matching accordingly using the Warehouse management system.
  • Load material from staging onto trailers in a safe and organized manner. Must able to safely load product, secure product for transport without causing damage using proper placement of material, straps and airbags.
  • Operate forklift within the policy guidelines in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work shifts or scheduled overtime as required.
  • Rotate responsibilities within the plant or department regularly to maintain or learn new skills in all responsibilities of the job for further development.
  • Responsible for filling out Daily Forklift/Sweeper checklist using our equipment management system or a paper checklist (if applicable) before operating a forklift/sweeper.
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete the Daily Forklift Checklist before operating a forklift.
  • Work within a group or individually as assigned when given a task by supervisor or group leader.
  • Must complete training to use our warehouse management system required to process orders effectively, and maintain inventory accuracies.
  • Complete any additional assignments as required by management based on business needs.
  • Shipper I must be able to demonstrate basic responsibilities of Shipper including (1) Working knowledge of warehouse layout and pulling functions, (2) Demonstrate the ability to perform pulling & loading functions without errors (3) Complete 3 months service before moving to Shipper II.
  • Shipper II must demonstrate (1) The ability to operate lift truck, (2) Lead/Drive for a three man picking team, (3) Use Warehouse management system required for Picking, Transfers and Moves, (4) Complete 6 months service before moving to Shipper III.
  • Shipper III must demonstrate (1) The ability to train Shipper I and Shipper II or Contingent workers, (2) Use warehouse management system to Pick, Transfer or Move product (3) Process RMA’s, WDS’s, NMF’s and all associated paperwork in warehouse management system correctly.
  • Must complete all required safety training and responsibilities such as Coastal , Stop, and TF reporting any other assigned task(s)

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

The incumbent ensures compliance with all EHS procedures and establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment, thereby eliminating or controlling hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and or property damage.

The incumbent must comply with, and when possible, exceed applicable Saint-Gobain EHS standards, as well as federal and provincial/local environmental regulations through the implementation of our EHS plans and Pollution Prevention.

The incumbent is also responsible for managing the Wheatfield ISO14001 program and supports all 9001 ISO activity.

In addition, the incumbent manages the Wheatfield Chemical Security Program.

This position supports the implementation and sustainment of the 5S program at the site. The position works closely with the operational team to implement standards and effective training across the site.

The Sustainability piece of this role will require closely working with the business level leadership to carry out Sustainability initiatives at the site level. Creating awareness and an engaging culture for these initiatives to thrive will be paramount.
