Precision Machinist

JOB SUMMARY:

Set up and operates equipment to expose, flatten and lap diamonds in Infiltrated Dressing Rollers. This is performed by using various machines to bring in the form to customer specifications. JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

This position requires an individual who is flexible and a team player.  The applicant must be able to work with deadlines and production schedules to assure a quality product is delivered on time to the customers.  A High School diploma or its equivalency is required, technical school training, apprenticeship program or equivalent.  Successful work experience and knowledge in set-up, adjustment and operation of machine shop grinders.  Ability to read and interpret work orders, charts and blueprints and specifications, as well as skill and knowledge necessary in utilizing shop math and measuring instruments is required.  Adherence to Quality Policy and Standard Operating Procedures and knowledge of those procedures will be a part of the daily process.  Must be motivated, focused, and clear thinking.  Ability to work safely and utilize good housekeeping is mandatory.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Reads, reviews and discusses work orders, instructions, or blueprints
  • Obtains materials necessary to complete order
  • Selects proper tooling, shank holder, shoe and table plate, appropriate diamond wheel, grit, grade and type
  • Sets up grinding equipment and begins forming the angle on the diamond to specified tolerances (up to .0001)
  • Visually inspects work in progress against the comparator chart and makes adjustments where necessary
  • Maintains accurate records
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area
  • Follows all safety procedure, including wearing of required protective equipment

Senior Research Technician – Grinding & Finishing Technology

The Grinding and Finishing Technology division of Saint-Gobain Research North America is seeking a motivated Senior Research Technician to join their team in Northboro, MA.

The Senior Research Technician safely performs moderately complex activities and/or product development activities with minimal supervision. The new hire will collaborate with engineers and customers to solve related problems and address specific client needs. In addition, this position may also perform advanced specialized technical functions involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating, and/or solving problems concerning complex processes, equipment, and products for assigned areas.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct experiments in the areas of finishing, grinding, machining, tribology, and metrology on a variety of machines and a variety of materials including metals, polymers, and ceramics.
  • Work with project leaders to develop new test methods, improve existing techniques, and update and create SOPs. 
  • Work with engineers and internal customers to collaborate on the design of special fixtures & tooling.
  • Use electronic data acquisition and metrology tools, such as micrometers and surface profilometers, to collect process information. 
  • Record test and measurement data.   
  • Perform preliminary statistical data analysis and present results.  
  • Maintain laboratory equipment including set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of experimental equipment or instruments.   Lead troubleshooting initiatives and machine repair efforts.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment

  • Associate degree in an engineering, technical, or science-related field or in lieu of degree demonstrated equivalent knowledge with 4-7 years of experience

Maintenance Supervisor

What is the job?

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the Maintenance team to maximize and optimize the reliability of designated equipment, process, and facility usage while ensuring employee safety and product quality. The incumbent directly supervises all Maintenance Technicians (mechanical, electrical, and multi-craft), reliability technician and the maintenance planner / stock room coordinator. In addition, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring parts availability for planned maintenance activities; effectively manages preventive and predictive maintenance activities in order to increase uptime and avoid the waste associated with unexpected equipment failure.

Essential Functions:

EHS
  • Accountable for safe maintenance activities. Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns. Will promote, teach and improve safety systems and procedures to employees and contractors such as LOTO, permits to work, safety audits. Etc.
  • Accountable for safety management of employees, to include completion of safety audits and inspections, safety meetings, investigations of reported incidents, required job and safety training and continuous evaluation employee training needs.
  • Provides an accident-free worksite while maintaining status as the preferred supplier of quality products and services with goals of yield, availability, and reliability.
  • Assures good housekeeping practices following 5S systems, enforces plant rules and safety regulations.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Directly supervises all direct reports including, but not limited to approving timesheets, flex holiday and vacation requests, and managing department overtime needs.
  • Holds direct reports accountable and administers corrective actions when employees are not in compliance with Company policies.
  • Identifies development opportunities for the maintenance team in both technical and soft skills.
  • Implements, maintains, utilizes, and trains the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Plant & Reliability Support

  • Plans, schedules and monitors assigned installations, maintenance and repair activities, requisitioning parts and supplies; identify necessary resources and ensure availability through SAP work order system.
  • Accurately track equipment history and parts usage through SAP.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with other departments to minimize plant downtime and maximize safety.
  • Works with maintenance and planner to ensure correct prioritization and timely completion of all work orders and sets out work on a weekly or day to day basis.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key suppliers of key process equipment.
  • Maintains various department records, files, reports, and equipment ledgers required for the proper and efficient operation of plant equipment.
  • Performs root cause analysis as well as implements sustainable countermeasures on losses related to maintenance.
  • Tracks downtime across the plant related to electrical and mechanical events and develop action plans to improve performance.
  • Improves reliability and reduce maintenance costs through statistical analysis to identify failure trends.
  • Develops and maintain SOPs
  • Improves mechanical systems using innovative ideas and practices.

  • High School Diploma- Required

Work Experience

  • 3+ Years of supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing environment- Required; maintenance supervisory experience preferred
  • 5+ Years of Maintenance experience (mechanical & electrical) in an industrial manufacturing environment- Required
  • 3+ Years of Preventative & Predictive Maintenance Activities- Preferred
  • 3+ Equipment layout drawings, mixing, form, design optimization & troubleshooting- Preferred

Technical Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)- Required
  • Proficient in SAP software- Preferred
  • HVAC Knowledge- Preferred

The Global Key Account Manager will develop and maintain executive, high-level relationships with several customers of strategic importance for the Bioprocess Solutions Business Unit, owing to their size, sales &; margin potential, global presence and technical leadership.

Will drive the growth, profitability and customer satisfaction of key accounts/presence while coordinating field sales coverage with our regional teams in Europe, Americas and Asia, and providing the necessary inputs for sales & operations planning while also working with product development, technical services & quality/regulatory.

Will set the global strategy for each key account, mapping their global footprint and drug development pipeline, identifying opportunities and assembling the appropriate support team.

Key Accountabilities:

Lead complex selling processes that involve buying influences in departments responsible for purchasing/strategic sourcing, validation sciences, process engineering/manufacturing. Coordinate timely responses with all applicable functions within Saint-Gobain. Maintain adequate reporting (sales, margin, project pipeline, Large Volume Opportunities) in connection with business objectives.

Establish strategic plan for key accounts in portfolio. This plan will cover a minimum of 5 years and include a detailed analysis of the customers’ own industrial footprint as well as product development pipeline, and how this translates in sales, co-development opportunities, capacity demand and Quality/Regulatory/Validation requirements for Saint-Gobain. This plan will further be translated into detailed action plans for field sales, operations and other business functions as applicable. Input and approval from the Director of Global Sales and the Business Unit Manager is required.

Serve as the lead negotiator (subject to appropriate guidelines and policies) for long-term supply agreements or global pricing contracts, as well as large quotes (frequently over a million euros per year in the Bioprocess Solutions markets).

Work with locally assigned and country specific Saint Gobain BDM’s, internal technical and quality teams to ensure that the daily business is running well and the customer’s expectations are fulfilled in term of delivery and quality.

Develop and maintain relationships across multiple functional areas, ensuring that we maintain high level relationships and touch points, but also working with key personnel in the organization that are responsible for specifying and using our products.

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

REQUIRED:

  • BS in Technical, Engineering, Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Purchasing or related field; Required.
  • MS in Technical, Engineering, Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Purchasing or related field; Preferred.

 

  • 10+ years' experience within Key Account Management within the Industrial Sector; Required.
  • Industry experience within Biopharm (direct/indirect); Preferred.
  • International enterprise selling in technically complex industries
  • Experience with complex contract negotiation
  • Valid Driver's License as company vehicle provided
  • Able to travel upwards of 30%, Domestic & International; Required.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $111,000 to $177,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 20% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $133,200 to $212,400. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

Position Summary

The Assistant Loading Supervisor, under the direction of the Loading Supervisor, will primarily be responsible for supporting the Loading Supervisor, overseeing the safe loading of trucks, assisting customers, and providing guidance and direction to the other shipping employees. This position is hands-on and will require the successful candidate to learn and perform all aspects of loading. This position will ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and safety standards. This role will also ensure effectiveness of employees through assignment of duties, discipline, and dismissal.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure safe work practices are being followed.
  • Ensure that employees adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure that all staff under your direction are equipped with and are using the proper personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure that every employee under your direction is trained on every task they will be required to perform throughout their shift ie. safe operation, paperwork completion, banding/strapping, housekeeping, setting up trailers, etc.
  • Ensure that the Loading lead hands are effectively training and monitoring the loading team.
  • Oversee staff to ensure work is being performed according to established standards.
  • With the support of Human Resources, handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations.
  • Ensure that loads are shipped completely and that the trucks are loaded safely.
  • Work closely with the Logistics Coordinator and the Loading Supervisor to determine daily priorities.
  • Notify the sales team of any product that did not make it on the truck.
  • Inspect the racks and surrounding area on a daily basis to ensure that product is not forgotten.
  • Ensure that all trucks have the required load manifest paperwork.
  • Determine areas of improvement for employees, providing additional training as needed.
  • Celebrate successes and foster an atmosphere of success.
  • Provide informal feedback and coaching to staff on an ongoing basis and document those discussions.
  • Ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations.
  • Participate in site and workplace inspections.
  • Liaise with other departments as well as other shifts to ensure that all parties are aware of the priorities for the day.
  • Assist with the loading of customer vehicles or the loading of trucks as required.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment such as the Moffetts, Combi-lift forklifts, and counterbalance forklifts.
  • Unload shipments from vendors as required.
  • Assist with the control of traffic in the yard.
  • Ensure that the employees under your direction maintain a clean working environment.
  • Ensure that all employees take allotted vacation time in compliance with applicable employment and labour standards.
  • Approve vacation requests and monitor vacation schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned.
