Position Summary

The main purpose of this position is to ensure the uninterrupted throughput of material within Bailey Metal Processing Limited, Princeton location.

 

This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Meeting schedules
  • Working within a team environment
  • Ensuring all aspects of work are done with an eye to Safety, Quality, & Production in that order.

 

The Machine Operator's main responsibility is to produce in a safe, productive, and profitable manner.  The operator will work in various stations throughout the facility as directed.

Responsibilities:

What you’ll do:

  • Read, understand, and verify production work orders.
  • Verify that the correct coils are being used for processing.
  • Follow established SOPs, including operation and setup of machinery.
  • Process coils, ensuring quality and customer tolerances are adhered to, and complete quality documentation accurately.
  • Monitor/inspect equipment for safe operation and/or any maintenance requirements.
  • Responsible for the safety of his team members; should never operate the machine when someone is inside the guarded area.
  • Operate overhead crane (training will be provided in-house).
  • Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance.
  • Semi-automatic welding and robotic welding operation (training will be provided in-house).
  • All other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or required by the Supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school or equivalent job experience.
  • Knowledge of roll-forming, welding, and/or robot operation as an asset.
  • Able to read standard/metric measuring tape.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations in either standard/metric units.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and comply with work directions, training manuals, and safety rules.
  • Strong teamwork mentality.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Position Summary

The Loading Supervisor, under the direction of the Logistics Manager, will primarily be responsible for overseeing the safe loading of trucks, assisting customers, and providing guidance and direction to the other shipping employees. This role will also ensure effectiveness of employees through assignment of duties, discipline, and dismissal.

  • Ensure safe work practices are being followed.
  • Ensure that employees adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  • Under the direction of Human Resources, handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations.
  • Ensure that loads are shipped complete and that the trucks are loaded safely.
  • Ensure that outside carriers are loaded according to the predetermined schedule.

  • Liaise with other departments as well as other shifts to ensure that all parties are aware of the priorities for the day.
  • Ensure that every employee under your direction is trained on every task they will be required to perform throughout their shift ie. safe operation, paperwork completion, banding/strapping, housekeeping, setting up trailers, etc.
  • Ensure the timely loading and departure of customers.
  • Assist with the loading of customer vehicles or the loading of trucks as required.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment such as the Moffetts, Combi-lift forklifts, and counterbalance forklifts.
  • Unload shipments from vendors as required.
  • Assist with the control of traffic in the yard.
  • Communicate with co-workers and office staff regarding any problems that may arise ie. backorders, damaged product, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivation of employees.
  • Completion of supervisor competency training.
  • Completion for forklift and overhead crane certification training.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain lasting working relationships.
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all co-workers in the team.
  • Shift flexibility.
  • Ability to direct and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals.
  • Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations.

Position Summary

The Health and Safety Manager, under the guidance of the VP of Operations, People and Culture, will primarily be responsible for maintaining and improving our Health and Safety program for all of our facilities. The successful candidate must be willing to travel to all of our locations on an ongoing basis. This position is hands-on and does not have any direct reports. The successful candidate must be willing to be hands-on in this role and take care of all required aspects of Health and Safety.

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain Health and Safety training records in our Health and Safety Management System.
  • Conduct ongoing meetings with the supervisory team to ensure buy-in with health and safety objectives.
  • Source external resources for H&S consulting services such as machine safeguarding analyses, ergonomic assessments, etc.
  • Ensure SDS sheets are maintained for all chemicals.
  • Perform annual chemical audits to ensure that all chemicals onsite are listed in the SDS books.
  • Provide monthly Health and Safety metrics to the VP of Operations, People and Culture.
  • Coordinate annual fire drills.
  • Review the pre-use inspections to ensure that operators are consistently filling them out.
  • Work with the supervisors to develop SOP's, JHA's, and Pre-use inspections for any new pieces of equipment.
  • Distribute monthly safety talks for the supervisors to present to their employees.
  • Maintain the Health and Safety notice boards.
  • Monitor training expiry dates and ensure that employees are re-trained prior to expiring.
  • Co-ordinate overhead crane and forklift theory training.
  • Provide safety training to newly onboarded employees.
  • Continuously be present on the shop floor identifying any areas of concern.
  • Notify supervisors on any situations that are unsafe and document those discussions.
  • Conduct monthly inspections of all First Aid supplies to ensure that supplies are fully stocked.
  • Monitor incident reports entered by supervisors.
  • Prepare WSIB Form 7's for any reported employee accident.
  • Maintain the list of contractors ensuring that we have on file WSIB Clearance, Insurance, and Contractor Safety Manuals.
  • Participate in any onsite Health and Safety workplace inspections.
  • Assist with the RTW program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

A CRST or CRSP designation is preferred for this position.

Senior Technical Specialist

Saint Gobain Life Sciences, a global leader in fluid management solutions and components, is seeking a hands-on team player to join their R&D team as a Senior Technical Specialist based at the Saint-Gobain Research North America Center in Northborough, Massachusetts. The position will report to the LS MT&I Process Innovation and Testing team supporting development of new products, manufacturing technologies through various prototyping methods and mechanical tests involving thermoplastic and silicone elastomers. The candidate will execute various mechanical & pump tests in addition to silicone extrusion of tubing under direction of a Senior Engineer. The position will be hands-on mechanical, involving handling material throughout compounding, prototyping and shutdown/maintenance/cleanout of lab scale to medium size equipment such as mills, presses and extruders. Testing involves characterizing mechanical properties of polymers per ASTM standards, Universal/Instron tester, hardness, customer specific application testing and test method development.

The individual must have a willingness to learn, apply test methods at a level consistent to meet validation (quantity and quality), maintain data collection/integrity standards and be able to setup/execute experiments both independently and under direction. Basic statistical data analysis, presenting data to a small team and electronically updating test requisition status using software e.g. Monday.com, uploading to other databases may be requested.

SG Life Sciences Essential Functions and Competencies:

  • Prepare, process and test materials for various bioprocess, medical, industrial and consumer fluid handling applications.
  • Working specifically with elastomeric tubing, silicone/TPE prototyping, extrusion, molding, mechanical property testing and other defect analysis.
  • Collect, analyze and document scientific and engineering data obtained from equipment.
  • Setup, operation, cleaning and preventative maintenance/troubleshooting of extrusion and lab equipment or instruments.
  • Plays an active role in lab management and meeting site specific goals to maintain and continuously improve Safety & 5S workplace organization e.g. HSE objectives, lab postings, safety audits, tours.
  • Provide basic interpretation of data related to trouble shooting customer problems and other technical issues.

Required Qualifications

Internal candidates: 2-5 years of experience as a Senior Research Technician.

External candidates: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certificate with 7 or more years of experience; Associate degree with 4 years of experience. Prefer past experiences in R&D or manufacturing with some materials focus, areas of product development, testing, quality or operating equipment.

  • Experience applying standardized test methods to characterize material properties in accordance with precise requirements in either an R&D or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating and maintaining lab scale and medium size equipment for compounding, molding, prototyping, extrusion (preferred), curing etc. Training will be provided.
  • Previous experience with Universal/Instron type testers preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands on capability A MUST.
  • Capability to use personal computer and Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Word and Teams etc. for documentation, results and communication.
  • General laboratory knowledge, proper chemical handling and lab etiquette.

The Role
What’s the job?

  • Tasks assigned by Shift Manager by seniority
  • If positioned at the batt modules, check all batt modules to ensure bags are presentable and properly sealed, bags and piece count are correct, the general area is clean. Audit batt modules for cycle time and operations (maintenance, build-up, etc.)
  • If positioned on K11, check for proper labels and date coding. Audit equipment for proper operations (Roll cuts, maintenance, build-up, etc.)
  • Perform cleaning tasks as assigned by Shift Manager
  • Meet with Shift Manager at beginning of the day to cover “game plan” as assigned
  • Apply industrial roll labels straight and square with the bag and with the top of the label nearest the open end of the industrial bag.
  • Apply bag labels straight and square with the end of the bag. Do not reapply labels over old labels.

  • Oversee Daily Operations: Supervise all warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory management functions, including labor scheduling, storing, shipping, space management, cycle counting, and housekeeping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directly supervises the hourly warehouse employees activities pertaining to material management, equipment problems, truck loading, truck traffic, housekeeping, cycle counting and inventory management.
  • Lead shift safety meetings to ensure compliance to all safety, environmental and health policies, procedures and practices.
  • Will oversee the training of warehouse employees to ensure they receive adequate training prior to operating forklifts and any other motorized equipment ensuring they follow the standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Must understand & perform cycle count activities and how it can affect inventory and all warehouse functions, and all inventory locations are maintained with the correct inventory to ensure shipping documents are accurate-first in first out should be the priority.
  • Always ensuring solid communication between truck drivers and warehouse employees.
  • Assists in performing root-cause analysis as well as implementing sustainable countermeasures on losses related to warehouse activities.
  • Maintains workplace organization to ensure good housekeeping (5s) by holding employees responsible for their assigned work areas. Assures warehouse lighting infrastructure is operational and functioning for efficiency and safety.
  • Reviews and approves employees time in the UKG timekeeping system and ensures employees are paid the correct hours and wages in accordance with the respective sites pay policies and procedures or collective bargaining agreements.
