Job Summary

The Role

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day preventive maintenance tasks and repair of electrical power and electronic equipment, troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration and assist with any mechanical repairs. Will possess a thorough understanding and hands on experience with electrical & electronic maintenance principals. Trouble shoot machine break down, repair situations, and safely restore the machine to the proper operating condition. Must adhere to all company safety policies and JSA’s while performing tasks and at all times when on the premises. NATURE & SCOPE OF POSITION: The ability to diagnose and trouble shoot electrical malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Must have a solid ability to solve machine operation problems using skill set of deductive reasoning, and electric test meters. Conducts inspections and replaces or repairs non-operational equipment and/or components of equipment that are hindering the equipment from operating efficiently. The incumbent should have a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of electrical principles and adequate skills to understand various plant processes. Positive working attitude toward other employees; be a team player. Work with others constructively and abide by company policies and procedures. Working together as a team for continuous improvement is vital to ensure the future of CertainTeed and its employees. Teamwork will be required to be effective in daily maintenance assignments as well as continuous improvement projects. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Perform daily activities needed to support and comply with requirements surrounding plant maintenance activities. • Be on call in a rotation with the other day shift electricians. During that time the electrician carries their phone with them and can be called in after hours to handle electrical issues that arise at the plant. This requires staying in a location and condition so that the person can be at the plant within an hour. • Testing electrical systems and equipment using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters and oscilloscopes. • Rebuild of components to be used on the equipment in the plant along with reading and interpreting blueprints and layout instructions and have knowledge/understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic theory. • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and schematics and wire control panels. • Will assist line mechanics and electricians as necessary when needed to support production including all of the above listed tasks and other means of support as needed. • Will participate in training, craft skill improvements and department safety topics. • Follow all safety precautions while performing tasks at all times. Along with preforming fire response responsibilities. • All areas are to be clean and clear of any debris before/after maintenance days and holidays. • Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage. • Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities. • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions. • Participate in the development, understanding and review of all position JSA’s. • Conduct required SMAT Audits in accordance with plant goals and objectives.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED plus a minimum of 10 (10) years’ electrical experience and successfully pass a skills test, that is intended to determine mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge, A/C and 3 phase circuits, instrumentation knowledge and skills. Must maintain a positive rating as described in the training/qualification evaluation record as a Maintenance Electricians. Communication skills must be at a high level in order to clearly communicate issues/problems of the process. Interfacing with computerized process monitoring systems and other computer software and systems requires knowledge and skills in areas of computer operations. Must have a valid forklift and buggy license and complete associated training requirements for safe operations and maintenance of forklift.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to work an average of 40 hours per week, speak clearly, so others understand, accept criticism, deal calmly and effectively, communicate with all levels of customers, whether internal or external, sensitivity to other’s needs, and maintain a positive demeanor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk and hear. Other physical requirements include, ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50#’s without assistance, ability to work from various squatting, kneeling or bending positions, ability to climb ladders up to 60 feet and the ability to work with arms above head. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as fork lifts, buggies, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas.

The Multi-Site Quality & Process Automation Engineer is a direct report of the Siding Products Group Quality & Process Control Director and is a member of Staff. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of automation systems in vinyl siding manufacturing. This includes working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance production efficiency, ensure safety, improve quality, and reduce downtime by automating key processes and improving data collection and analysis. The role involves evaluating, troubleshooting, installing, testing and maintaining automation systems, as well as training on new equipment and systems.

Essential Functions:

Automate Inspections:

  • Create and set up automated systems using vision systems and robotics for inspecting vinyl siding production.
  • Develop software to spot defects like color issues, surface defects, and dimensional inconsistencies.
  • Integrate these systems with current production equipment and ensure they provide instant feedback to reduce defects.

Optimize Processes & Ensure Quality:

  • Collaborate with the Quality & Process Control team to define critical quality metrics and choose systems to measure them.
  • Analyze inspection data to find trends, reduce defects, and make improvements.
  • Enhance the accuracy and efficiency of inspection systems to reduce errors and increase productivity.
  • Create and apply procedures for inline quality inspection.

Monitor & Analyze Processes:

  • Implement and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods.
  • Examine process data to spot trends and quality issues.
  • Monitor key process parameters and ensure they stay within set limits.
  • Use SPC tools to analyze data and identify areas for improvement.

System Integration & Maintenance:

  • Connect inspection systems with plant control systems like PLCs and SCADA & Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Troubleshoot and maintain inspection equipment, including vision systems and sensors, to keep them working reliably.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to enhance processes based on inspection data.
  • Train staff on using inspection equipment and interpreting data.
  • Lead efforts to improve inspection speed and accuracy while reducing the need for manual checks.

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $99,900 to $154,800 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $112,887.00 to $174,924.00

Retail and Demand Planner
Position Description
Job Summary

What’s the Job?

The Retail Planner will be primarily responsible for inventory management and replenishment for CertainTeed Siding Products Group’s (CT SPG) retail customers. This work entails the planning and inventory management for finished goods sold to retail / Big Box customers by maintaining MRP parameters, monitoring inventory and demand, and creating purchase recommendations / purchase orders in order to achieve desired consigned inventory levels at customer locations. A high level of coordination with customers will be required. The Planner will review and maintain relevant Min-Max levels of inventory of each SKU under consignment to generate relevant replenishment recommendations and to ensure inventory remains within warehouse space allotment. The Planner will also obtain inventory reports and create orders in order to replenish consigned inventory to agreed upon levels, and ensure follow-up of these orders with SPG plants. This role is also expected to work on continuous improvement and automation of ordering process with customers. Part of the management of the consigned inventory will include traveling to customers’ Distribution Centers to monitor or perform physical inventory counts and reconcile differences with inventory in SPG’s system under consignment and ensure the accuracy of the inventory in SPG’s system. Finally, the Planner will create, manage, update and publish key metrics related to Retail Customers, including but not limited to Fill Rates, Backorders, Perfect Order, Lead Times or Inventory Turns.

 

In addition, this position will act as a support and backup for SPG’s Demand Planning process. The monthly Process includes generating forecasts, reviewing them with various stakeholders for adjustments (Sales, Product Management and Supply Chain Director), leading demand review meetings with customers, and leading monthly consensus forecast meetings. The Retail Planner will help drive the monthly Demand Planning process for SPG in support of the Sr Demand Planner. On a monthly basis, responsibilities will entail supporting the process with analyses related to customer Demand across all products all Lines of Business, organizing cross-functional calls and having discussions with Sales and Customers to align on forecasts. On occasion, responsibilities will include stepping in to cover the entirety of the process when the Sr Demand Planner is unavailable for any period of time.

 

The candidate needs to be a self-starter with a solid background in Inventory and Demand Planning and a continuous improvement mindset. They will need to be able to represent the company when interacting with customers on a regular basis and help drive key processes that will determine SPG’s success in the marketplace.

Job Summary

The Process Engineer I will implement World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects, production and processing methods and controls to meet customer-based quality standards in a manner consistent with CertainTeed Gypsum Vision, Mission, Values and Objectives (VMVO). Utilizing WCM principles, this position will focus on product formulation, process development and optimization, equipment design and optimization, general project engineering, and trial planning and execution. The Process Engineer I will also assist with Process Innovation through close collaboration with CertainTeed and Saint-Gobain support groups. Through the application of process engineering fundamentals and advances process control tools, this position will ensure that processes are centered, capable and in control; reduce process variations; and resolve special causes variation.

  • Actively participate in the site safety training and programs and complying with the site safety & environmental standards.
  • Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels.
  • Complies with environmental standards, assures good housekeeping practices following 5S systems, enforces plant rules and safety regulations, and supports VMVO and WCM initiatives.Effectively Track operational metrics, consumption data and report for environmental compliance.
  • Analyzes process variations; develops solutions and implements corrective actions by using advanced statistical tools in identifying and resolving the root causes of the variations in the process and participates in resolving critical process and product problems with customers and vendors.
  • Compiles technical data and other background information to determine equipment performance specifications and established baselines. Interprets and extrapolates accumulated data to prepare diagrams and flow charts for the efficient operation of the equipment.
  • Organizes and initiates run trials to evaluate equipment, process and raw material opportunities.
  • Identifies safety, cost, quality, and energy optimization opportunities, develops solutions and lead the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Develops and encourage innovative processes and equipment concepts along with follow through to Return on Investments (ROI) patents and / or proprietary intellectual property.
  • Interacts with Team for operational troubleshooting, process improvement projects, production materials requirement, raw material availability and Quality Step Zero requirements.
  • Participates and be an advisor for Focused Improvement, Professional Maintenance, and Autonomous Maintenance teams.
  • Provides professional training on the manufacturing process to internal employees. As primary project leader provides technical direction to designers, contractors, and employees of associated projects.
  • Works with project teams during delivery phase and commissioning of equipment.
  • Support Manufacturing Business Plan opportunities. Tracks and reports financial savings on executed projects.
  • Prepares capital expenditures and provides technical and budgetary input for the purpose of planning and scheduling projects.
  • Interacts with consultants and suppliers to determine compatibility of other systems and products as they may apply to process improvement.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor’s Degree Chemical Engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience is required.
  • 1-3 years Applied professional process experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Previous experience with product formulation, water and foam chemistries, mass & energy balance, flow diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), fluid properties and thermodynamics.
  • Working knowledge of advanced statistical tools used to reduce variations.
  • Flexible, open-minded team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.

  • Uses advanced PLC / Controls to reduce process variations in conjunction with the process and production engineers
  • Analyzes operating problems, develop solutions and leads with implementation of corrective action from a controls standpoint
  • Provides weekly status reports of projects to Plant Management

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Operates and monitors automated vinyl and accessory extruders. Extruders are fed with compound while panels and accessories are produced using the latest technology in machinery. Tooling and downstream equipment are used to produce a high quality finished product.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

Set up, operate, and monitor production extrusion machinery. Start-up extrusion lines and makes all required adjustments to stabilize process in order to minimize scrap and maximize efficiency. Reprogrammable microprocessor controls are used and monitored to achieve desired product quality.

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Performs continuous 1/2 hour quality checks by measuring, testing, and recording data to ensure 100% acceptable material.
  • Monitors incoming materials, regrind, compound, and concentrate to ensure proper color, lot number, and processability.
  • Continually monitors all tooling and downstream equipment to achieve proper specifications.
  • Fills out and monitors all process control sheets and monitors packaging and labeling of finished goods.
  • Must be capable of troubleshooting and basic processing conditions to ensure the highest quality possible.
  • Must be skillful in color changes, start-up, and shut down of all equipment.
  • Assist maintenance and tooling personnel in resetting lines to maintain the highest quality product.
  • Accountable for production efficiency, scrap, and quality standards.
  • Required, when necessary, to pack/inspect the product online in addition to the operation of fork trucks and housekeeping.
  • Must demonstrate good team skills, troubleshooting skills, and both verbal and written communications to ensure an efficient operation.
