Our CertainTeed STONEfacade team is seeking a Senior Research Engineer with specialized knowledge in concrete to join our team in Malvern, PA. The Senior Research Engineer is expected to lead efforts to develop new products to grow STONEfacade product lines within CertainTeed’s siding business. This individual is expected to have product development responsibility, which includes developing cementitious formulation from the mix to hardened state; characterization of each step; scale-up to manufacturing process; solve problems in the plants; and implement continuous improvements. This engineer is expected to use fundamental scientific principles, along with the latest research and methods, to reduce risk and ensure a successful product launch. Applied knowledge of concrete will be key. Additionally, this role will be fundamental in supporting STONEfacade’s digitalization and automation of several process steps (VOC, Quality Control, Paint, Packaging) to improve the plant productivity and new product’s time to market.

Responsibilities:

New product development and launch:

  • Lead the product development through design, formulation, and testing of cementitious materials to meet aesthetics, performance, sustainability, and cost improvements.
  • Collaborate with marketing, and production teams to ensure smooth development of new products from concept through to commercialization.
  • Conduct laboratory and plant trials, analyzing results to optimize product performance.
  • Align product development with market trends and customer needs to drive product innovations and improvements.

Process engineering, continuous process improvement, and plant support:

  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to streamline production processes, improving efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Analyze existing manufacturing operations to identify areas for optimization, implementing continuous improvement initiatives as well as digitalization and automation for multiple process steps opportunities.
  • Provide technical support to plant operations, troubleshooting issues related to concrete formulations, equipment, mold development or production processes.
  • Collaborate with plant engineers and operators to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Formulation development and raw material qualifications

  • Develop and optimize concrete formulations to meet aesthetics, performance, durability, and sustainability goals.
  • Conduct research on new raw materials, evaluating their suitability and performance in concrete applications.
  • Oversee the qualification and testing of new raw materials, ensuring compatibility with production processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate alternative materials and reduce material costs without compromising quality.

Technical product management

  • Provide technical expertise to support internal teams, including sales, marketing, and customer support, regarding product performance and capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including product specifications, test reports, and technical datasheets.
  • Support training and presentations development to educate customers and internal stakeholders on product features and best practices.

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience; Master’s Degree with 3+ years of experience or Entry level PhD Engineering – Chemical, Material Science, Polymer, Civil, Mechanical or related discipline

Principal Electrical Engineer
Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Principle Electrical Engineer develops, implements, and tracks various electrical projects throughout the plant. Acts as a resource for troubleshooting electrical problems related to local production activities. The incumbent supports all aspects of the manufacturing facility by providing technical expertise and electrical engineering discipline to implement various engineering projects as assigned. This position also provides necessary support in coordinating proper maintenance of process equipment and facilities. Assist in the identification, equipment troubleshooting, motor control centers, and analysis of professional engineering knowledge, skills, and abilities in a team environment. This position reports directly to the Plant Engineer.

  • Provide technical support to plant personnel and maintain engineering documentation, CAD, and other drawing files that support project work and engineering.
  • Interacts with Suppliers, Procurement, Manufacturing, and other RPG employees to develop designs, acquire prototypes, and produce special-build/experimental modules.
  • Provides input into planning and scheduling of projects and preparing capital expenditures.
  • Performs root cause analysis as well as implements sustainable countermeasures on losses related to maintenance.
  • Interacts with Managers and Supervisors at plant and corporate personnel to secure appropriate resources to plan and implement projects.
  • Cross-functional coordination with the mechanical engineer as assigned by the Plant Engineer.
  • Works closely with the Production and Plant Engineer to coordinate any proposed changes using the change management system.
  • Completes sub-module component engineering projects with minimal oversight.
  • Facilitates smooth transition of new designs to Manufacturing, including assessment of technical risk and feedback on qualification testing plan.
  • Proven ability to design, manage, and implement projects of a technical nature.
  • Responsible for improving the reliability of the production equipment.
  • Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
  • Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.
  • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Assist with any additional tasks & projects as assigned.

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required
  • Three to five (3-5) years of applied professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform and navigate PLC programming, writing, and debugging.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
  • Flexible and open-minded with excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Understanding of computerized maintenance management systems is expected.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001, is a plus, including continual improvement tools such as Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma.

Siding Products Group (SPG) is looking for driven, talented, and experienced R&D Group Leader to join our current team in conducting research, developing technical base, and material processing strategy for current and future research within the group. Projects will focus on improvement of processes, performance and product development activities related to SPG’s extensive product line.

As an R&D Group Leader, the candidate will be expected to effectively leads cross functional teams by managing others to execute and deliver project objectives. The candidate will be expected to oversee R&D project portfolio in the areas of materials processing, equipment set up, trouble shooting process inefficiencies and ensuring process control, collaborate effectively with R&D colleagues, product managers, product engineers, application engineers and external customers, create and execute project plans, design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and present findings in written and oral formats. Candidate is also expected to play a role in proposing projects and programs vital to the R&D direction of the group. Further the candidate with be responsible for developing direct reports and others within group.

  • Utilizes broad technical background and experience to develop and/or improve products, processes, and performance and/or reduce costs using state of the art extrusion, injection molding and hot-pressing processes.
  • Collaborates with engineering, plant process and other R&D teams on process improvement, raw material usage and new equipment commissioning.

  • 10+ years of hands on experience with manufacturing processes/equipment in an industrial or research setting.
  • Strong polymer processing background (Injection Molding, Extrusion, Compounding & Hot pressing)
  • Experience transferring R&D projects from development to manufacturing

The Molding Operator will safely measure and cut silicone tubing to specific sizes and perform silicone injection over mold to create manifolds, per detailed drawings, attribute specifications, and routing notes. Must perform dimensional inspections to ensure the product is molded in accordance with the provided detailed drawings, using micrometers, calipers, tape measure, and other measuring tools. This Operator must also record in-process inspections and verifications using Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Must have good attention to detail, and good hand/eye coordination.

Key Accountabilities

Safely operate molding equipment and tools with limited supervision. Proficient at QAD system, accurate data entry, material & supplies reconciliation, and packet closure.

This position is located in Beaverton, MI.

Schedule: Sun - Thurs; 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM

Starting Pay: $15.50/hour during the training period. $16.50/hour after completion of training period. $1.00/hour shift premium.

The Plant Quality Manager will be accountable to ensure the Quality Management System is implemented per requirements and to report areas of concern to Management. The Plant Quality Manager will be expected to ensure the plant remains in full compliance will regulatory requirements and ISO:13485 requirements as they pertain to the plant, customer specifications, and corporate quality procedures. This role will also be responsible for managing Quality department personnel at the site, including Quality Lab, Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, and Site Cleanroom Monitoring and Control.

Promotes a safe working environment, complies with proper use of PPE, reports incidents, and participates in functional department safety meetings. Exhibits good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements (ISO14644).

Job Functions:

  • Execution and oversight of a Quality Management System that operates in compliance with corporate quality policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulatory requirements (ISO:13485) and industry guidance.
  • Execution of document control and review/approval of controlled documents.
  • Execution and maintenance of ECO process including change management and review of all change controls.
  • Execution and maintenance of supplier quality management and performance of supplier audits as appropriate.
  • Complaint management including robust root cause analysis and CAPA.
  • Ensure robust root cause analysis investigation and CAPA for deviations and nonconforming product.
  • Implementation of an effective Internal Audit Program.
  • Ensure adequate training program is in place.
  • Oversight of applicable Validation Master Plan including equipment, process, product, sterilization, and test methods.
  • Oversight of quality control laboratory and review/approval of quality control testing.
  • Execution of cleanroom practices including qualification, monitoring, and behavior.
  • Responsibility for Quality Risk Management in relevant aspects of the QMS.
  • Responsible for maintenance and expansion of the Global QMS e-tool (ETQ) at the plant.
  • Facilitate management review process including implementation of a metrics control plan to measure and monitor the health of the Quality Management System, Manufacturing System, and Supply Chain.
  • Oversight and Maintenance of Site Sterility Program
  • Customer Management including facilitating/hosting customer audits, ensuring robust and effective corrective action to customer audit observations, reviewing/approving quality agreements with customers, partnering in the resolution of quality issues and requests for information by initiating effective interdepartmental communication, managing ISO certification and maintenance of certification.
  • Execute talent management activities with direct reports. Ensure proper performance management, training, and development of direct/indirect reports

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering-Preferred, or Life Sciences-related field (Chemistry, Biology, or Microbiology); required.
  • Master’s Degree in MBA or equivalent; preferred.
  • ASQ Certifications desirable (CQE, CQM, CQA); preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a regulated industry with preferred emphasis in life sciences (e.g., pharma, biopharm, or medical device); required.
  • Minimum of 6 years in a Quality function with at least 3 years in a Quality System design, development, and implementation role; required.
  • At least 3 years in a direct supervisory role; preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge of ISO and cGXP requirements and relevant industry standard practices is required. Must have the ability to interpret these regulations to ensure proper implementation in the plant systems; required. 
  • Must be independent, quality, and cost-conscious, with skills in leadership and team building; required. 
  • Must have experience in performing risk analysis (e.g., FMEA, FTA, Risk Ranking/Filtering); required.

The position oversees portfolio management of a large collection of items, ensuring the correct inventory, mix, and price for use in company events, trade shows, customer ordering portals, and for employee use.

  • Own and manage the branded promotional collateral program.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, within the Corporate Marketing team and across the CertainTeed and Saint-Gobain businesses.

Diriger et développer la mise en œuvre sécuritaire de projets d'investissement pour les usines de traitement, y compris le développement et la conception, l'approvisionnement, l'installation et la mise en service. Diriger et développer la mise en œuvre des plans de maintenance des équipements d’exploitation et des équipements électriques. 

  • Diriger le développement et la maintenance de la distribution de l'énergie pour offrir le meilleur rendement au moindre coût en tenant dûment compte de la sécurité, de l'opérabilité, de la maintenabilité et de la conformité légale.
  • Définir et développer des conceptions et des structures initiales pour des projets d'investissement, puis les développer en plans et en dessins détaillés.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Facilities Technician position involves knowledge of carpentry, maintaining lighting fixtures, basic machine maintenance, maintaining coolant systems, equipment and housekeeping. The role will also complete any duties required by the Maintenance Lead or Facilities Manager. He/She will also be expected Identify and resolve basic process problems and implement cost reduction ideas as well as address any urgent safety concerns.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains work space before, during, and after each scheduled shift in accordance with 5S principles

• Operate scissor lift and basic fork lift. Experience with both is required, certification will be provided during the course of employment.

• Knowledge of lock-out, tag-out procedure • Forklift skills are a requirement, with the ability to load and unload storage racking systems safely

• The safe use of elevated platform trucks is a requirement for changing lights

• Warehousing of incoming inventory

• Basic electrical knowledge (i.e., determine if power is on/off, for LOTO purposes and changing bulbs)

• Basic plumbing and pipe fitting used on coolant systems

• Basic machine repair (belts adjustment, filter replacement, disassembly/reassembly of coolant systems)

• Basic carpentry tools saws, drills etc.

• Housekeeping of the entire facility which includes machine coolant changes, trash changes, shoveling/salting sidewalks, setting up and tearing down for events, etc.
