Paint Line Operator

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

THE ROLE

Kaycan has an exciting career opportunity for a Paint Operator based in Smith Falls to join our team. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our growth and success.

Shift: 12 hour shift / Rotate every two weeks

The primary purpose of the entry operator position is to maintain visual inspection for quality control, production reporting, obtain coils from stock in accordance with schedule and place coil on mandrel to allow continuous operations. The employee ensures constant high quality production on a continuous basis by working safely and efficiently and minimal scrap and damage and no accidents or incidents.

Duties:

  • Verify with outgoing entry operator of any problems experienced on previous shift. Never leave workstation unattended while line is running to prevent defective material from being run unless permitted by the supervisor or his delegate.
  • Ensure appropriate coils taken from stock to satisfy schedule requirements.
  • Assist the line operator and/or supervisor in training and orienting new employees or transfers to the entry operator position.
  • If for any reason the line goes down, do your best to put the line back in operation by following the instructions of your supervisor or delegate. Remember you are part of a team, co-operative effort leads to rapid and thorough corrective action.
  • Assist with paint and roll changes as instructed by your line operator or supervisor.
  • Assist with any maintenance required on the paintline at your work station as long as it does not conflict with your primary job functions.
  • Record all data on the appropriate sheets.
  • Maintain your workstation in a clean, well ordered fashion at all times - floor swept.
  • Ensure cores are taped and put away when skid is full, (no higher than 1 core above head level).
  • Scrap skid must be taken away and replaced with a new empty one. (no higher than waist level).
  • The ban chopper barrel must be emptied when full and replaced with a new barrel.
  • Skid tops and cardboard must be piled on a skid and replaced when it reaches waist level.
  • Ensure that garbage is emptied and floor is free of debris prior to end of shift.

  • Hooks - forklift
  • Cores - yardstick or vernier caliper

Job Summary
This position is responsible for the rationalization, planning and scheduling of maintenance activities to drive improved sustainable plant reliability. It requires hands-on supervision maintenance employees in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or replacement of plant equipment, buildings, machinery, etc. This position is responsible for both mechanical and electrical aspects of the operation. Will be a leader of Professional Maintenance oriented improvement projects in area of responsibility involving the incorporation of World Class Manufacturing techniques and principles into all maintenance systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Responsible for the safety of all Associates directly under his/her supervision through adherence with Company rules and guidelines, the collective bargaining agreement, and compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations. Will follow and teach safety systems and procedures to employees and contractors. Will perform regular safety audits.
  • Responsible for selecting, training and scheduling technicians for work assignments.
  • Scheduling and monitoring assigned installation, maintenance and repair activities.
  • Performs administrative and record keeping duties.
  • Assist in setting departmental objectives.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the annual mechanical budget.
  • Continue to manage and improve the execution scheduling compliance.
  • Responsible to develop and execute the annual training plan for his direct report and all millwrights.

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technologist, or equivalent field experience

  • Requires 3-5 years direct supervisory experience in an Industrial Environment

Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $79,500 to $123,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $87,400 to $135,800. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

What’s the Job?

The Production Supervisor directly supervises the hourly employees assigned to the production areas of the plant, ensuring the team works in a safe and efficient manner, while producing high quality products in accordance with the production schedule and quality metrics. The leader of this team will utilize people skills and various team-building methods to create a culture of accountability and pride in workmanship in their direct reports.

This role is directly responsible for promoting a safe and clean working environment and ensuring proper PPE and tools are available and utilized. You will support the employees with training and job knowledge; and ensure they are accountable for their contributions in their assigned work roles. This position will be measured against specific KPIs, such as safety and quality performance, production line uptime and prime pounds produced, and labor spending.

  • Directly supervise a union hourly workforce of employees in compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (contract), communicate performance expectations, hold employees accountable to those expectations, and coach and develop employee capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities and implement corrective actions to improve safety, quality, productivity, labor and spending performance, through development of teams, tracking performance, data interpretation and other problem solving tools.
  • Fill in required job information in IN4.0RM. Complete daily production and material usage reports. Update and maintain time and attendance and payroll data and administer coaching, training, group expectations or discipline as needed.
  • Ensures employees have received appropriate safety training and conform to all safety policies, rules and regulations, challenging behavior as it relates to working unsafely.
  • Ensures all quality specifications are met and maintained.

 

 
Rotating Shift Schedule with Shift Supervisors arriving 30 minutes early and remaining 30 minutes after shift for a smooth hand-off to the next shift.
 
Day shift begins Saturday and works through Friday 7:30a – 3:30p
Off Saturday through Tuesday
Returns Wednesday night 11:30p – 7:30a off Wednesday and Thursday
Returns Friday afternoon at 3:30p works through Thursday. Off Friday
Begins day shift rotation again on Saturday.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

 

  • Bachelors of Science degree in technical field is required, or equivalent of industry work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of prior experience supervising employees in a unionized work environment, continuous process manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills, and team building skills, along with the ability to facilitate action plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to help fix problems quickly to keep production running.
  • Proven managerial and leadership skills that will motivate and direct a large group of employees, and the skills to effectively support a diverse group of people.
  • Current computer skills, both in PC and control systems, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint required.

Sr Financial Analyst and Internal Controls Coordinator

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Sr Financial Analyst and Internal Controls Coordinator is a subject matter expert role. The incumbent will be the subject matter expert in the Internal Controls and Risks Framework (ICRF) developed by Saint-Gobain, and ensure compliance and conformity of the program. They will be responsible for attribution of SAP access rights, the ERP of the plant, minimizing risks and developing alternative process control through mitigation plans when needed.

The incumbent will support the Plant Controller, delivering reporting information to management team regarding: Operational Expenses, Capital Expenses (CAPEX) and working capital; as well, the candidate will participate in the preparation of monthly reporting and preparation of budget and reforecast. The candidate must be proficient on Microsoft Excel and Power BI (Desirable).

In order to be successful, the incumbent will indeed need to create, nurture and develop a network across the functional Internal control team of Saint-Gobain, and within the business.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

 

  • Become a subject matter expert in the Internal Controls and Risks Framework (ICRF), toolkits, and best practices to ensure compliance and conformity of the program.
  • Coordinate yearly completion of ICRF Gap Analysis, preparation to audits if applicable, develop action plans as needed with respective leaders, and follow up completion of action plan.
  • Support respective leaders in creation and update of internal procedures in line with ICRF.
  • Monitor the performance of internal controls on a monthly/quarterly basis. Identify and address any control deficiency promptly.
  • Control SAP access rights: demonstrate understanding of SAP transactions and risk associated, identifying the best roles from an SOD standpoint.
  • Perform yearly SOD analysis, develop and lead action plan to reduce risk to an acceptable level. Develop alternative process/control route as mitigation plan when risk cannot be eliminated.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data and KPI’s to identify savings/cost avoidance opportunities, working along with operation team to improve company profitability.
  • Responsible to build and maintain financial model to track plant cost and expenses by cost centers, analyzing and understanding trends and variances,
  • Assist plant controller with preparation and analysis for monthly financial statements, as well, propose and implement process improvements, ensuring better quality of information.
  • Be part of annual budget and forecast, supporting plant controller with data analysis.
  • Continuously improve financial information packages in excel and/or power BI.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Audit, Internal Control or Similar area is required.
  • Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Audit, Internal Control, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • 2-3 years experience with Finance, Analysis or related fields required.
  • Proven experience with SAP as ERP. Knowledge of transaction codes required.
  • Proven experience in internal controls, risk management, auditing or related field preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legal and safety regulations.

As part of CertainTeed IT’s Digital Manufacturing Program, this position will help serve projects relating to Manufacturing, Quality and Maintenance within the 70+ manufacturing sites throughout North America.

The Digital Manufacturing Analyst will be responsible for performing in-depth data analysis on production and quality data to identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs. He or She he will be expected to contribute to CertainTeed’s digitization and digital transformation of all processes across CertainTeed’s diverse product lines. This position will be remote reporting to the Program Manager, Digital Manufacturing.  

The position serves as an expert in systems/functions relating to Big Data, Business Intelligence, AI (Artificial Intelligence), IoT (Internet of Things), Data Science, Historians and Data Tagging with a heavy emphasis on FaCTory+; CertainTeed North America’s award-winning MES system based on the Ignition platform, including the layer of Sepasoft, while helping set companywide standards and providing effective communication.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze large datasets generating from the FaCTory+ system, SQL tables and cloud historian platforms to enable the business to make data driven decisions.
