Saint-Gobain Announces CarbonLow™, Low Embodied Carbon Gypsum Line
New wallboard line to contain up to 60% less embodied carbon; production to commence in 2025 at North America's first zero-carbon (scopes 1 and 2) wallboard facility outside Montreal.

Saint-Gobain North America today announced 30 finalists of its Sustaining Futures, Raising Communities charitable giveaway contest, with a chance for schools to win donations totaling $250,000 in building materials solutions and program materials to transform educational spaces in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Georgia after a public vote on the company’s social media channels and the program’s website.
Saint-Gobain has now obtained approvals from all relevant competition authorities for its acquisition of GCP Applied Technologies Inc., a major global player in construction chemicals, announced on December 6, 2021. The acquisition will close on September 27, 2022. GCP will delist from the New York Stock Exchange.
Saint-Gobain, through its building products subsidiary CertainTeed LLC, has installed a smart water meter system and upgraded equipment at its siding plant in Social Circle, Georgia, reducing the site’s consumption of water by more than two million gallons per year.

Saint-Gobain, through its building products subsidiary CertainTeed LLC, will install recycling technology at its gypsum plant in Palatka, Florida, increasing the recycled content in its wallboard products manufactured in Palatka by 18,000 tons/year while also reducing the site’s carbon dioxide emissions by 2,260 tons/year.
On July 29, 2022 Saint-Gobain completed the acquisition announced on May 31, 2022 of Kaycan, a manufacturer and distributor of exterior building materials in Canada and in the United States.
Saint-Gobain North America, through its building products subsidiary CertainTeed LLC, has installed energy-efficient grinding control technology at its gypsum plant in Buchanan, New York, reducing the plant’s energy consumption by nearly 700,000 kWh per year and also reducing the plant’s greenhouse gas emissions.
