Research Engineer I - Adhesives & Sealants

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Saint-Gobain Research (SGR) North America is seeking a driven, talented, and energetic entry-level researcher to join our Adhesives & Sealants R&D team. In this role, you will conduct hands-on laboratory experiments for key development programs, focusing on process and product development activities related to Adhesives & Sealants product line.

As an entry-level researcher, you will:

  • Design and conduct lab experiments, produce lab-scale samples, operate lab equipment, and analyze experimental outcomes under the direction of the R&D Director.
    • Conduct experiments to support both your primary projects and those led by others.
    • Utilize basic scientific or engineering principles and techniques to undertake specific tasks and projects with limited scope.
  • Take initiative in managing and documenting projects effectively with supervision to capture project progress and results in presentations and technical reports
    • Demonstrate an open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.
  • Actively seek opportunities to learn and apply new knowledge to enhance project outcomes.
  • Approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset, identifying innovative solutions to technical issues.
    • Seek out others to enhance and streamline development and decision-making.
    • Understand and incorporate Gate Process methodology/ideology in research projects.

Essential Functions

  • Tasks clearly defined by the manager in nature and scope, including areas of product development/improvement, lab and production processes, and new knowledge research including analytical and characterization tools.
  • Develop and present presentations for executive review. Submit technical reports on project progress and results.
  • Carry several small projects or studies through to successful completion with little assistance from the supervisor. Projects involve the extension of present or new technology in one or more areas, involving improvement and/or development of processes and testing techniques.
  • Take a leading role in aspects of lab management: safety, equipment maintenance, 5S, lab audit preparation and action follow-up, lab postings, regular equipment checks etc.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other related disciplines.
  • Must possess a body of technical work commensurate with their years of experience including but not limited to demonstration of familiarity with statistical tools, data analysis, and drawing conclusions based on a collection of basic data and interpretation.
  • Project leadership including project management, team collaboration, and oral and written communication skills,
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge in HSE.
  • Ability to work with colleagues at various levels.
  • Develop understanding of company policies and corporate structure.
  • Respectful communication and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Experience with polymeric materials R&D preferred.
  • Co-Op or intern experience is a plus.

Quality Engineer - Manufacturing, Life Sciences

Quality Engineer; Manufacturing, Life Sciences; Beaverton, MI

The Quality Engineer I will be responsible for ensuring products conform to established requirements and standards through appropriate audit, inspection, and test activities. Interacts with multiple cross-functional departments, customers, suppliers, and experts outside of Saint-Gobain to implement Saint-Gobain quality objectives.

Formulates procedures, specifications and standards for Saint-Gobain products and processes. Understands how to investigate and determine root causes for nonconformances, taking that knowledge to develop and implement corrective/preventive action plans. Collects and analyzes data to ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) is in compliance with standards and regulations. Will have a basic understanding of ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820 regulations, quality systems, design assurance, FMEA, product testing methods. Previous experience in a clean room environment a plus.

Promotes a safe working environment, complies with proper use of PPE, reports incidents, and participates in functional department safety meetings. Exhibits good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements.

Essential Job Functions

  • Investigate nonconformance’s, determine root cause and create corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Write technical protocols, reports, and procedures.
  • Work with customers/suppliers to ensure needs are met from a quality perspective.

  • 1- 3 Years experience in a Quality role; required.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to apply QSR/ISO regulations to ensure compliance; preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build relationships outside the department as well as outside the company (suppliers, customers, regulatory agencies, etc.); required.
  • Strong in use of statistical techniques & Six Sigma/WCM tools; preferred.

Marketing Planning Manager

The Marketing Planning Manager is responsible for leading the annual marketing strategy and planning process to develop and deliver marketing plans that drive business growth for Saint-Gobain North America. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in strategic planning, with strength in the below noted areas and demonstrated success deploying these skills to impact business growth.

  • Strategic Planning: Lead the annual marketing planning process, which is approximately 50% focused on driving brand strength (awareness, preference, salience) and adoption of SGNA’s systems and solutions; and 50% focused on achieving product marketing growth goals. This individual will lead the annual process, developing the strategic marketing plan, including brand growth strategy, target markets, solution positioning, and marketing channel strategy.
  • Marketing Plan Creation & Oversight. Lead the creation of the marketing plan that supports the strategy, including alignment to MWBs and resources, project planning and estimation, resourcing plan, budget, and backlog creation. This individual will lead planning in collaboration with our business units and corporate marketing team, ensuring cross-functional alignment on goals, shared prioritization of high impact activities, and aligned resources to deliver. This individual will align with marketing and business leaders to ensure alignment on accountabilities for execution.
  • Budget Management. This role will have budget oversight for the marketing strategy, allocating resources for maximum short- and long-term growth, and driving the investment model to achieve ROI+ growth. They will work collaboratively with department owners and business units to create shared investment plans, driving synergies in how we invest and measuring success of marketing across our business in terms of business results.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $111,000 to $177,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 15% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $127,650 to $203,550. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

Job Summary
QA Inspectors compare in process and finished goods to established specifications; reports variance to Coordinator.

Essential Functions:

  • Compare first piece produced on equipment set-up for conformance to specification.
  • Write detailed inspection report in compliance with GMP standard on parts, products and processes that fail inspection; investigates scope of the failure and forward report to Coordinator for disposition.
  • Use working knowledge of inspection techniques to determine most accurate method of comparing measurements of complex parts to blueprint and specification.
  • Compare measurements, form, fit, function and value judgments of simple and complex parts to blueprint, specifications and general workmanship standards using documents, experience and knowledge of inspection techniques.
  • Utilize statistical process control where applicable.
  • Assist in orientation of new technicians and inspection processes, as necessary.
  • Assist in ensuring proper calibration of equipment and measuring instruments.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Maintain proper levelof supplies (office and inspection) to prevent depletion This includes reordering task
  • Carry out formulated plans, policies and procedures of the department per GMP regulations
  • Communicate with employee's any instructions or requirements as deemed necessary by the Quality Manager
  • Must be available for shift work, when necessary
  • Be willing to participate in training that may be conducted off-site

  • Act as both a tactical and strategic Purchaser for the site and business unit while prioritizing cost savings initiatives.
  • Engage the plant’s technical teams early in the buying process to ensure compliance of purchasing methodology and proper management through the bidding platform.
  • Foster site compliance regarding the North American Purchasing Policy [NAPP], Purchasing’s Internal Controls Reference Framework [ICRF], Gift Policy, and Credit Card [One-Card] Policy.
  • Ability to manage projects for sites which they oversee, evaluate spend, to develop site portfolios for site agreements and cross-site/business synergies to leverage contract negotiation.
  • Drive compliance of the company’s digital tools to ensure everything is bid out according to policy, vendors are validated, and savings/avoidance is properly tracked/reported.
  • Utilize the law department library of contracts for all capital, equipment, and service transactions.
  • Process/monitor purchase orders and act as full-scope vendor liaison (i.e. bid walks, quotation, negotiation, purchases, contracts, risk qualification, SGCT Drug & Alcohol Policy, etc).
  • Execute and review monthly reporting to ensure proper site operations, commitments are reconciled, and on-time payments are achieved.
  • Hold regular training sessions and monthly Purchasing meetings with the plant staff regarding Purchasing procedures.
  • Required to sign Purchasing Charter, participate in online and in-person training sessions, weekly/monthly conference calls and meetings, and engage in plant level meetings as defined in the operations cadence.
  • Travel to the remote sites must be visiting monthly/yearly based upon need, as well as travel for site audits, vendor tours, emergencies, and events (Buy-Techs, events, staff meetings).

What’s the job?

The Environmental Sustainability Engineer acts as a resource within the facility to other departments regarding employee safety, ensures environmental compliance, identifies and completes sustainability projects, and leads the plant environmental improvement efforts.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Oversight of all sustainability activities of the plant to achieve the sustainability goals of energy/CO2, water, and waste reduction.
  • Coordinate and oversee environmental operations to ensure regulatory compliance and permit renewals including but not limited to: Title V Air permit, Industrial Storm Water Permit, Above Ground Storage Tank permit, Scott County Haz Waste License, EPA SPCC Plan and Facility Response Plans.
  • Provide key leadership to the plant recycling efforts & waste disposal/treatment programs.
  • Lead the site team in the identification and implementation of sustainability projects through conducting site assessments, participating in Green Team activities, and sharing/learning best practices that Support the company’s short term and long- term emissions goals to reduce the environmental impact of the plant’s activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections for environmental compliance.
  • Assess potential environmental risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to continually improve the facilities environmental program.
  • Identify root causes of environmental problems and propose appropriate actions plans.
  • Coordinate with management to schedule periodic maintenance and upgrade activities to environmental control equipment.
  • Maintain complete, clear and accurate documentations/reports for environmental activities at the facility. (SARA Title 111 Section 312/313)
  • Manage asbestos abatement plan and procedure.
  • Participate in WCM (World Class Manufacturing) activities such as 5s, SMAT, TPM and other Kaizen events
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $87,400 to $135,850.
