Saint-Gobain is an all-inclusive organization, dedicated to building an environment that celebrates diversity and offers all employees a chance to thrive. To better serve individual communities within the workplace, Saint-Gobain offers Employee Resource Groups (ERG), such as the Women’s Network, which focuses on helping women with career advancement.
Created by women, for women, the Saint-Gobain Women’s Network is open to all employees who support the mission of promoting diversity and inclusion by developing the potential of women in Saint-Gobain North America in a way that advances the Saint-Gobain business strategy. To achieve this, the Women’s Network focuses primarily on the recruitment, retention, and development of talented women, regardless of geographical location. All employees of Saint-Gobain are welcomed to participate in the Women’s Network events, to help promote diversity and inclusion, and educate employees on the strategic benefits of a diverse workforce. With the establishment of Regional Hubs located throughout North America, the Women’s Network is active at career fairs and events across the country. As of end of 2021, we have 11 hubs including virtual hub established in North America. Additionally, programs developed to empower current members, such as networking or professional development seminars, take place in various locations -- with the option to attend virtually, if needed.
Melissa Spittler, Director of Safety for CertainTeed and Women’s Network Steering Committee member, explains her reason for joining the Network: “I initially joined my local Hub as a way to meet employees from other Saint-Gobain locations, gain a better understanding of the products our businesses make and build my network within the Company. Now more than 10 years later, not only have I expanded my network to include others I may not have otherwise had the opportunity to meet, I have benefited immensely from the diversity of thought within our Network, gained new perspectives on equity and diversity and as a member of the Steering Committee, have been able to contribute in a meaningful way to growing the network in alignment with the larger Diversity and Inclusion goals set by Saint-Gobain.”
Externally, the Women’s Network fosters opportunities for members to engage with each other, as well as in their communities. Through partnerships with local organizations, donations and volunteer opportunities, members are able to give back and help impact those in need.
Jean Angus, CEO and President for Saint-Gobain Life Sciences says “The Women’s Network has been a welcoming community for me since joining the Company in 2011. We have a group of highly talented and engaging women that are committed to creating an inclusive environment for women to succeed. I am proud now to be the network’s business sponsor.”
