Saint-Gobain Celebrates Opening of its Community Garden to Support Triskeles' Food For All Program

A one-year, $30,000 grant from the Saint-Gobain Corporation Foundation provides employees with the opportunity to grow organic produce to benefit local food pantries

Malvern, Pa., Aug. 30, 2017 – Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest building materials companies and manufacturer of innovative material solutions, today announces the launch of The Saint-Gobain Community Garden at its North American headquarters in Malvern, Pa. The Saint-Gobain Community Garden – an initiative supported by a one-year, $30,000 grant provided by the Saint-Gobain Corporation Foundation to Triskeles’ Food For All Program – allows Saint-Gobain to positively impact hundreds of individuals and families struggling with food insecurity in Greater Philadelphia while providing Saint-Gobain employees with the opportunity to learn how to grow organic produce.

The launch of The Saint-Gobain Community Garden was celebrated with an open house featuring guided garden tours, walk-through demonstrations of the planting and harvesting process and a 300-pound donation to Chester County Food Bank, one of the beneficiaries of Triskeles’ Food For All Program.

“Since 1948, Saint-Gobain has had deep roots in the Greater Philadelphia region, and we are proud to continue that commitment to the local community by providing food pantries with access to nutritious produce grown at our Headquarters,” said Carmen Ferrigno, Executive Director of the Saint-Gobain Corporation Foundation. “As a company, we believe in doing the right thing for our environment, communities, customers and employees. Through our partnership with Food For All, we will be able to support a nonprofit with a shared commitment to community development and environmental stewardship as well as provide our employees with opportunities to improve their health and well-being through learning about organic gardening practices.”

The Food For All Program requires that partners donate 50 percent of their harvest to local food banks. Saint-Gobain plans to surpass this requirement by committing to donate 100 percent of all produce harvested. The Saint-Gobain Community Garden will join Food For All’s growing network, which includes 16 garden partners and more than 30 food pantries throughout Chester, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

“Our organization is pleased to partner with a company like Saint-Gobain with a long-standing history of corporate social responsibility,” said David Ryle, Director of the Food For All Program at Triskeles Inc. “Volunteers at Saint-Gobain are not only committed to giving back but are also passionate about having a long-term positive impact in the local community.”
